چکیده

Background: In contrast to field crops, quality is often more essential than yield in vegetable crops. As a result, this research began with the objective of assessing diversity and novelty okra genotypes. Methods: A investigation was carried out at Sivapuri Village, Chidambaram, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu, India, summer 2020-2021. To match distinctiveness, uniformity stability, qualitative data for 18 characters were collected based on vegetative reproductive characters. Result: Results obtained study revealed high level variability among genotypes majority traits, except plant growth habit, branching position, leaf blade colour between veins, fruit type seed size. The fruit-related exhibited large studied. Mature 8.3% yellowish green, 23.3% green 68.4% dark fruits recorded Based genetic variation, ultimate breeding programmes generate new varieties exhibiting elite combinations many desired attributes using traditional procedures.

Assessment of genetic relatedness among okra genotypes [abelmoschus esculentus (l.) Moench] using rapd markers

DNA based RAPD (Randomly Amplification of Polymorphic DNA) markers have been used extensively to study genetic relationships in number of crop plants. In this study, 44 okra genotypes collected from different parts of India, were selected to assess genetic distinctiveness and relatedness. Total genomic DNA was extracted and subjected to RAPD analysis using 14 arbitrary 10 mer primers. The molec...

Influence of Farmyard Manure and Weeding Regimes on Growth and Yield of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) in Zaria

Field experiments were conducted during the 2010 and 2011 cropping seasons to investigate the effect of farmyard manure and weeding regimes on the growth and yield of okra. The study was a factorial experiment laid out in split plot design, replicated three times. Farm yard manure was assigned as main plot treatments, while weeding regimes was assigned as sub plot treatments. Parameters measure...
